Job Description
DESCRIPTION
One Material Handling System (OMHS) is building Amazon's in-house material handling capabilities, transforming how Amazon designs, builds, and operates its facilities. As Amazon's internal material handling system integrator, we combine precision in technical project management with the vision needed to revolutionize our material handling capabilities. We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Technical Infrastructure Program Manager who will exemplify ownership of their assigned material handling projects, ensuring successful implementation across Amazon's network. Our S-TIPM works closely with WWDE, Operations Engineering, strategic suppliers, and cross-functional teams to deliver complex material handling systems. This role requires both strategic vision and tactical execution to standardize project delivery while maintaining the high standards that complex material handling systems demand. You will drive projects through our comprehensive Project Lifecycle Framework, from initiation through commissioning and handover, while helping establish the processes and playbooks that will enable OMHS to scale across Amazon's network.
Key job responsibilities
In partnership with WWDE, Operations Engineering, and strategic suppliers, this individual will drive the execution strategy for material handling system implementations. This position will provide project leadership throughout the entire lifecycle of specific project(s) of a particular building type (ARS, SSD, AMZL, IXD).
- You will serve as the single-threaded leader between engineering teams, operations, and implementation partners.
- You will lead cross-functional communications and strategic planning for material handling system deployment, determine KPIs, and drive standardization initiatives. You must be obsessed with execution excellence, creating mechanisms and processes that increase velocity while maintaining quality. You will be key in assisting in the development of our Project Lifecycle Framework and implementation playbooks.
- This role requires building relationships with Amazon development and operations teams and with senior leaders.
- Drive technical integration strategy and execution for complex material handling systems
- Lead end-to-end system implementation programs spanning mechanical engineering, controls integration, power systems, and operational requirements of specific project(s) of a particular building type (ARS, SSD, AMZL, IXD)
- Customize and execute standardized technical deployment methodologies and integration playbooks to enable implementation of Amazon-spec material handling equipment
- Execute complex material handling projects through all lifecycle phases while ensuring technical requirements, performance standards, and operational metrics are met
- Coordinate between specialized engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, controls) and maintain ownership for system integration approaches
- Drive continuous improvement in technical integration methods, system performance standards, and commissioning procedures
- Manage technical partnerships with OEMs and 3P engineering firms to ensure optimal system design and integration
- Leverage technical knowledge management systems and engineering documentation standards for material handling implementations
- Maintain alignment between engineering teams, operations stakeholders, and external partners on technical requirements and system specifications
- Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks in system design, integration approach, and operational implementation
- Define technical standards and best practices for material handling system implementations for specific project(s)
A day in the life
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute material handling system implementations while establishing standardized processes for future deployments. Develop and deliver project execution strategies and detailed plans to drive implementation from initiation through commissioning, ensuring project(s) success. Interface with strategic partners to ensure successful integration of Amazon-spec equipment.
